Instagram just announced its new, improved way to keep users’ conversations going through threads in the comments section on a post. Just like Facebook replies, we will be able to start a new thread in comments by choosing to reply to a comment.
Much like the Facebook replies too, this feature will make conversations on posts much easier to follow on our beloved app. In the next few coming weeks the update will be available as part of Instagram’s new version which you’ll be able to get for IOS in Apple app store, and Google play for the android version.
Speaking of the updates on Instagram comments, a very important and much needed update has just been added a couple of months ago.
Users can now block offensive comments that discourage them from sharing their moment on Instagram making Instagram a much safer zone for them to express their thoughts freely and share highlights of their lives with the rest of the world. In addition to blocking mean comments, Instagram has added a spam filter in nine languages.
Last but not least, if you come across a photo or a video that you consider sensitive, you can report the content and if the review team of Instagram finds it indeed to be sensitive yet does not violate Instagram’s guidelines, a screen will be covering this content whether it’s a photo or a video when it is shown in a feed or a profile. This way, users will be more protected and have less undesirable surprises while using the app, and if you want to view the screen-covered content, a simple tap will do the trick and reveal it.
These updates came as first steps of Instagram plan to introduce itself as a kinder and safer community for its users. This initiative was announced last September by Instagram and took various steps like organizing an InstaMeet in March 2017, a worldwide gathering for tens of thousands of Instagram users from all over the world just by using the map on the community website to find the nearest InstaMeet or host one and be added to the map to be the gathering point for Instagrammers to spread the kindness, some just participated in the event by leaving a heartwarming comment.
