The new variant of Nokia’s Nokia 8 is set to launch soon and will contain not only 6 gigs of RAM, but also 128 gigs of internal storage, according to trusted German website, WinFuture. It is said that the device will be up for sale on October 20 and priced only a bit higher than the Nokia 8 that comes with only 4 gigs of RAM and internal storage of 64 gigs. The latter-mentioned Nokia was rolled out as a flagship model back in August of this year.
The same hardware variant found in the Nokia 8 was recently certified with the FCC, which can only mean that the sale of this particular model is likely to reach the United States very soon.
Other than RAM capacity and storage space, the new Nokia 8 does not have any other major changes to the internal features. The new release is still powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset and the SoC has an octa-core Kryo 280 CPU. The maximum frequency of this high performance core is 2.45GHz with four cores clocked at a super-efficient speed of 1.9GHz.
The IPS LCD screen is 5.3 inches, features a resolution of 2560 x 1440, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Featuring a 3.090mAh batter, the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 means that it can be topped up quickly when the charge is running low.
The handset’s rear camera has two sensors at 13 megapixels. One is an RGB shooter and the other, a monochrome sensor. The front-facing camera features 13 megapixels. OZO Audio is the onboard audio for the Nokia 8 and provides 360-degree sound through eight different mics located all around the handset.
The Nokia 8 ships with a preinstalled version of Android Nougat and features HMD Global with a bit of a visual modification in the operating system. However, the Android Oreo will be available as an upgrade with upcoming versions of the OS. The skins are not modified heavily which means that the manufacturer can send security updates out a lot faster than competitors will be able to do.
While the Nokia 8 that offers 4 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of storage internally are only currently available in a few particular markets, it is expected that HDM Global will be sending out the improved versions in just a few short weeks.
